The capital markets landscape is rapidly evolving with technological advancements and regulatory complexities. To lead effectively, we must continue to evolve our governance and controls framework, ensuring robust and strategic controls oversight. The 'Head of First Line Governance and Controls' is a pivotal role for this transformation.

How You’ll Succeed
• Build a central hub and connectivity point for all controls related matters across US Capital Markets (Change Initiative Risk Assessments, Risk Identification, Risk and Control Self Assessments, Policies & Procedures, Risk Events, etc.).
• Adapt and keep pace with changing regulatory expectations and alignment with industry best practices.
• Develop and present transformation updates for senior management, board members, and regulators.
• Identify and resolve risks and issues within the overall Governance & Controls transformation program.
• Design, document, and implement a post transformation BAU state.
• Identify, address, and manage interdependencies across business and support functions for both the transformation execution and BAU state.
• Manage matrix prerogatives that aligns local, regional, and global requirements and guidance.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on best practices and innovation.
• Drive performance enhancements, operational efficiencies, and strategic initiatives to maintain a competitive edge.
• Develop ad hoc reports for senior management and other stakeholders as required.
• Build and lead an inspired team that is driven by purpose.
Who You Are
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of proven experience in a senior governance and controls role within capital markets.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance and controls frameworks.
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $225,000-$250,000 for the New York, New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
