About the role

Agility Robotics is a pioneer. Our robot, Digit, is the first to be sold into workplaces across the globe. Our team is differentiated by its expertise in imagining, engineering, and delivering robots with advanced mobility, dexterity, intelligence, and efficiency -- robots specifically designed to work alongside people, in spaces built for people. Every day, we break through engineering challenges and invent new solutions and capabilities that will one day make robots commonplace and approachable. This work is our passion and our responsibility: our mission is to make businesses more productive and people’s lives more fulfilling.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Staff Electrical Engineer (Manufacturing Continuous Improvement) to lead sustaining and continuous improvement initiatives in our state-of-the-art robotics manufacturing facility. In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally to optimize production processes, implement lean manufacturing strategies, and drive innovation in robotic assembly.

About the Work

  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise to diagnose and resolve (debug) manufacturing, field, and design issues with focus on electronic assemblies and components, supporting root cause analysis (RCA) and lead corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for nonconformances.
  • Lead sustaining engineering efforts by owning the implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECRs & ECOs) affecting product design, BOMs, and drawings across active product lines.
  • Create and revise PCBA CAD, schematics and drawings to reflect approved design changes using tools such as Altium, or equivalent.
  • Develop and execute design updates to improve manufacturability, reduce cost, and resolve production and design issues, working cross-functionally with design, test, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Author and maintain up-to-date technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, BOMs, work instructions, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and tool/fixture/equipment specifications to support production and service operations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to validate design changes, material substitutions, and implement supplier testing.
  • Work closely with the design team to implement design for test and self-test on various robot PCB assemblies, requiring a deep understanding of circuits and systems.
  • Collaborate with design and test teams to debug functional test fixtures for PCBAs, incorporating necessary stimulus, test circuitry, and test firmware/software.
  • Apply statistical process control methodologies for overall quality control of PCBAs and systems.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, drive improvements in capacity, quality, cost, and safety, and implement lean manufacturing solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a commercial, product-driven manufacturing environment supporting a production line (robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical, or similar preferred).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with design, layout, assembly, testing and deployment of electro-mechanical systems, mechanisms, actuators, PCBAs, and sensors utilizing data analysis and lean methods.
  • Engineering Change Order (ECO) experience within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, Windchill experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with Altium and/or Creo is a significant plus, along with some mechanical design knowledge to create and release test fixtures.
  • Proficiency in Python and Linux, and/or C languages.
  • Experience with ERP and MES software to manage inventory and production processes.
  • Experience developing and implementing manufacturing equipment in production environments (DQ/IQ/OQ/PQ) a plus.
  • Proven ability to mentor and lead engineers and technicians effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to drive initiatives independently and within teams.
