The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our Development Team. As an intern supporting our Go Red for Women & STEM Goes Red campaigns. You will will play a key role in driving the success of this impactful campaign. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these life-saving initiatives.

Internship Overview:

• Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
• Internship Duration: 5/19/25-8/22/25
• Location: In office position.  Intern must be available to be in office on Tuesdays and be in the Philadelphia, PA region.
• Salary: $23.00 per hour

• Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others.

 

Responsibilities

Tasks may include the following:

• Attend external meetings with constituents as applicable.
• Attend in-person staff meetings as assigned.
• Coordinate all partner mission impact reports.
• Design & implement legacy project.
• Data entry.
• May be asked to support off-site fundraising & educational events.
• Coordinate day of events supplies including ordering, inventory and organizing
• Working with and recruiting volunteers for event activities.

Qualifications

• Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, nonprofit fundraising, or public health.
• Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Effective oral and presentation communication skills.
• Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Basic knowledge of Canva.
• Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.  For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
