Sr. Security Systems Specialist

Johns Hopkins University is seeking a Sr. Security Systems Specialist to assist in the delivery of campus safety and security services to the community. This position team leads Security Systems and the activities of assigned Security Systems Specialists.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Schedule work shifts and leave of personnel in a 24-7 emergency communications and monitoring facility.
- Perform periodic work inspections and provide input in performance evaluations.
- Ensure equitable workload and quality of performance.
- Monitor and respond to proprietary intrusion, environmental, and fire alarm systems.
- Monitor and respond to proprietary closed circuit television systems for events or activities that require a Security response.
- Provide general assistance and information to Johns Hopkins University students, faculty, staff and visitors.
- Administrative tasks for the operation of the Communications Center.
- Coordination of emergency situations and deployment of Hopkins Security personnel during critical incidents.
- Communicate pertinent information to Security personnel from Baltimore Police Department transmission and activities.
- Contact and direct Baltimore Police, Fire and Paramedics when necessary.
- Create and maintain manual and computerized reports, logs, records and data.
- Perform periodic testing and evaluation of Security Systems.
- Assume the duties of the Security Systems Specialist in absence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass Maryland State Police/FBI background investigation.
- Exceptional level of customer service and people skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to speak clearly and understandably in telephone and radio communications.
- Must be able to function effectively in a highly charged work environment under stressful emergency conditions.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Windows computer environment.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to function effectively for extended periods in a seated position with periodic short breaks provided.
- Must have unrestricted use of both hands.
- Must possess full hearing capabilities.
- Complete physical screening by Occupational Health to include drug screening.
- Must have binocular vision, corrected to a minimum of 20/40 in both eyes.
- Successfully meet and maintain Campus Safety and Security physical requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) year education post high school.
- Four (4) years related experience including two (2) or more years in a progressively responsible supervisory/management role.
- Familiarity with communication technology and call-taking techniques.

Starting Salary Range: Min $18.00 - Max $33.50 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)
