From your PASSION to ours
The Sr. Transportation Manager focuses on Carrier and Broker development and the management of of transportation providers on behalf of the United Businesses of America (UBA). Responsibilities include new carrier/broker development, pricing, capacity, and service evaluation (including but not limited to formal RFP’s), Key Performance Indicator evaluation, and leadership of business reviews. A key aspect is costing (rate) management, including internal and external benchmarking and assessments, to support driving value for transportation services to the UBA.
From your EXPERTISE to ours
Key responsibilities for this position include:
· Assist in development of qualification Lactalis standards for both Carriers and Broker.
· Research and evaluate transportation companies and identify those operations and strategic vision fit well within the Lactalis network.
· Analyze carrier pricing and service to support the onboarding of new providers, and the competitiveness of incumbent partners. This includes leadership of RFP’s which may be Local, Regional, or National in scope, across multiple modes of transport with extensive knowledge of truckload and Multi-stop Milk runs
· Manage the onboarding of new carriers including contract vetting (with collaboration with Legal), rate organization and distribution, and systems entry. Also, manage the exiting of carriers from UBA systems and procedures.
· Support key aspects of the Transportation Operations team including: carrier relationship management, transportation cost analysis, carrier service metrics, and departmental KPIs.
· Analyze performance to the monthly and annual transportation budget, which includes volume and rate variances. Drives countermeasures to substandard cost and service results. Supports the investigation of budget variances and will be responsible for a variety of reporting with will measure the department’s performance.
· Lead, coordinate and conduct business reviews, soliciting data and feedback from impacted departments.
· Develop and / or support cost savings projects within Logistics in collaboration with cross functional teams.
· Evaluate overall Transportation industry trends and keep leadership current on potential opportunities and challenges.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Transportation team members in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
