Collaborative Data Services (CDS) provides scientific support to researchers at Fred Hutch. We are currently seeking an Interviewer II, Lead. They will be responsible for collecting data through telephone or in-person interviews with study participants and entering collected data into a data capture system. They will provide training and on-going guidance to interviewers. In addition, the Interviewer II, Lead works closely with their team to troubleshoot issues, and guide the compilation of data. Non-routine decisions are referred to the supervisor. The position reports to the CDS Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Identify study participants through phone calls or written request for participation.
- Follow script to pre-screen potential participants over the phone, videoconference, or in person to determine eligibility according to study guidelines.
- Follow a complex data collection instrument to conduct in-depth and at times, lengthy telephone, videoconference or in-person interviews. Interview questions are sometimes of a sensitive or personal nature.
- Collect and record data manually or using a complex data capture system.
- Maintain accurate tracking of all contacts in data capture system.
- Train Research Project Interviewers in the use of the data collection instrument(s).
- Monitor Research Project Interviewers phone calls to ensure compliance with study guidelines.
- Provide project coordination assistance to various research groups within the Public Health Sciences and/or across the Center.
- Provide on-going assistance and guidance to Research Project Interviewers.
- Provide Research Project Interviewers performance input to the supervisor for use in performance evaluations and disciplinary issues.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School graduation or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of counseling, interviewing, or customer service experience.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Ability to neatly and accurately document information.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience speaking Spanish in a professional setting preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Applications.
- Ability to work independently from home, if necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable speaking to diverse groups.
- Ability to multitask.
- Comfortable learning new software.
- Excellent attention to detail.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.14 to $28.67 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
