Summary:

Data & AI are at the center of everything we do at Coupang.  It helps power all aspects of Coupang including search ranking & relevance, price products and services, streamline logistics and delivery, optimize content for streaming, and more. Coupang AI+Data Platform team is a dynamic and innovative group whose mission is to deliver data platform services securely, reliably, and efficiently to all the data stakeholders including the C-suite executives, ML engineers, Business Analysts and Data Engineers.  

 

You will be part of the ML Platform group under Data Platform Org, which enables ML teams across the company to iterate their projects faster from data/feature engineering, labeling, training, online and offline serving of the models. You will partner closely with cross-functional ML teams to help further adopt and apply our centralized platform wherever applicable, work on feedback, and iterate our products to be more user-friendly and scalable. You will work with Engineers leveraging third-party or open source, to build in-house Machine Learning tools & infrastructure - which will help develop reusable, high-performing Machine Learning systems, and enable fast model development, low-latency serving, and ease of model quality maintenance. You'll have the opportunity to build a large-scale heterogeneous system integrating with GPU/Storage keep it running stable and reliable and be involved in the decision-making process.

 

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science or related field.

• 10+ years of relevant experience in technology companies or organizations.

• 5+ years of experience in Data Infrastructure, AI/ML.

• Industry experience building end-to-end Machine Learning Platform infrastructure or building and productionizing Machine Learning models.

• Proficient in cloud computing and data processing infrastructure and tools: Kubernetes, Airflow (or equivalent), Spark, Hive, SQL.

• Proficient in some of the ML training and deployment frameworks like: Tensorflow, PyTorch, TensorRT, Triton backend etc.

• Deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices like training/serving skew minimization, A/B test, feature engineering, model selection. Working knowledge on ML algorithms like gradient boosted trees, neural networks/deep learning, optimization. And domains like NLP, computer vision etc.

• Good understanding of features that help Platform to keep up with the latest advancement of generative AI and large language models.

• Strong ownership and ability to lead project end to end; Good communicator, both to technical and business audiences. 

• Ability to work in multicultural, cross functional team, and to deal with ambiguity in business and technology.

 

Pay & Benefits   

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation. 

The base pay for this position ranges from $159,000/year in our lowest geographic market to $324,000/year   in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
