The Opportunity

We are seeking an Legal Technology Project Manager to join our Firm.  This position will be based in our Washington D.C. office (hybrid). The Legal Technology Project Manager leads and manages all aspects of discovery in litigation and regulatory matters using the Firm's legal technology solutions. This position provides consultative support and applies the Firm's electronic discovery best practices and project management strategies to manage cases efficiently and effectively.  

  • Advises attorneys, paralegals and clients on electronic discovery best practices and consults on processes from collection through post-production tasks.
  • Liaises with internal case teams, clients, vendors and the Legal Technology staff to support matters throughout all phases of discovery and offers recommendations about design, processes and workflows, including drafting project specifications for vendors.
  • Maintains awareness of latest electronic discovery trends and assesses any impact they have on Legal Technology workflows.
  • Provides analyses and detailed feedback of ESI Protocols in consultation with attorney teams.
  • Identifies and articulates potential risks clearly and provides viable solutions regarding collection, processing, review and production. Addresses and handles risks and potential issues independently .
  • Assists with the vendor selection and engagement process by consulting with the Legal Technology management team and attorneys to ensure the Firm’s vendor engagement procedures are followed, including the execution of agreements and conducting of security assessments. Provides attorneys with in-depth analysis of industry vendors, including service pros and cons and cost differences based on experience.
  • Participates in client preservation and collection discussions at the outset of a new matter.
  • Manages all aspects of collection, including identifying all sources and locations of electronically stored information.
  • Maintains awareness of emerging data sources and relevant considerations for collection and processing. Advises attorneys on best approaches for special data sources.
  • Manages all aspects of data processing, including coordinating with processing vendors, tracking custodians, reviewing search terms, providing date ranges, determining optimal deduplication methods and troubleshooting processing issues. Communicates detailed processing specifications and instructions to the vendor.
  • Manages all aspects of review, including setting up and designing the review database, access permissions, managed review providers and third-party vendors, and developing the review workflow.
  • Manages all aspects of document production preparation, including reviewing production specifications with attorneys for best practices and strategic considerations; insuring productions are consistent and conform to any subpoenas, ESI protocols, joint defense agreements, etc.; running full quality control checks against any proposed production sets in coordination with the Paralegal Discovery Team and working with attorneys to resolve any issues found; and coordinating timing and technical resources with Legal Technology Data Specialists to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Conducts quality checks on final production volumes and media, including productions prepared by external vendors.
  • Manages all aspects of post-production database work, including advising case teams on using databases to create privilege logs, setting up processes for deposition/interview preparation, setting up processes for identifying and reviewing potential trial exhibits including coordination with trial presentation personnel/vendor.
  • Provides end-user support and customer service to partners, co-counsel, case teams and clients throughout all phases of litigation and regulatory matters.
  • Participates in technical conferences with regulatory agencies and opposing counsel as needed.
