About The Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

This position is in the Asset Management group responsible for life cycle management of substation and transmission equipment, supporting compliance monitoring, maintenance tracking, and the systems, tools, and processes that enable effective asset management.

The position reports to the Manager, Asset Information & Tools and is an onsite position in Akron, OH. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide business analyst support for Transmission and Distribution asset management functions, including spare equipment management, program management, asset strategy planning, dashboard development, data enhancements and automation, analytics, reporting, and efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor inspections, maintenance, and compliance reporting through dashboards; escalate risks to leadership when needed. 
  • Oversee spare program governance to ensure tasks are completed on time and aligned with standards. 
  • Contribute to the Asset Management Strategy by providing a framework for decision-making, optimizing lifecycle costs, supporting investment planning, and strengthening compliance.
  • Coordinate with the Transmission Portfolio team on 10-year budgets, annual forecasts, and monthly tracking. 
  • Analyzing expenditures, perform variance analysis and recommend budget adjustments, track spending against purchase orders and contracts. 
  • Provide analyst support for obsolescence and online monitoring initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and status tracking.
  • Collaborate with business units and stakeholders to meet strategic initiatives, promote teamwork, and deliver accurate, timely results. 
  • Utilize project management skills to monitor asset information projects and ensure alignment with business strategies and goals.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to drive continuous improvement decision making. 
  • Conduct research, data analysis, and reporting to provide insights that reduce reliability risk, optimize investments, and extend asset lifecycle performance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of substation and overhead transmission equipment, as well as supporting systems (Cascade, APM, PI, TAMI, SAP, Portfolio management systems, analytics dashboards).
  • Provide storm support as needed, including off-hours, weekends, holidays; occasional travel required. 
  • Working knowledge of querying tools (i.e., Hyperion, Toad) is a plus. 

Qualifications at the Senior Business Analyst level include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 10 years’ related work experience is required.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years’ related work experience is required. 
  • Performing assigned job duties with little to no supervision.
  • In lieu of a degree, 7 years of related work experience will be required.
  • Relevant experience in identifying and implementing process improvements, analyzing, and projecting required work, monitoring requirements to completion, and preparing data reports, cost analysis, and recommendations.
  • In-depth understanding of relevant subject matter; experience with structured query language (SQL) beneficial.
  • Familiarity with work management processes and related systems; Cascade, ESRI, SAP, PowerPlan, ITOA, Energy Management System (EMS), FileNet (Content Navigator); additional training will be provided as needed.
  • Highly proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, delivering accurate, high- quality work within established deadlines.
  • Project Management experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex subject matter effectively to all levels of management. 
  • Demonstrated questioning attitude with a commitment to learning, producing results, and strengthening relationships.
