Kickstart your nursing career with Sentara’s dynamic 6-month Nurse Residency program, designed specifically for new graduate RNs with less than one year experience.  At Sentara we believe in setting our nurses up for success from day one, which is why all new graduates are automatically enrolled-no extra paperwork or applications.  Are you looking to enter the specialties of Medical Surgical nursing, Intermediate Care, Critical Care, Emergency Care, the Operating room, or Women’s Health?  Available across all 12 Sentara hospitals, this immersive program combines practical skills with hands-on training, professional development, and mentoring, empowering you to confidently transition into your nursing career.

Registered Nurse Transition to Practice Programs at Sentara:

Unique 6-Month Program Includes:

• No separate application required, automatic enrollment for any RN with less than 12 months experience or transitioning to a new practice area.
• General Nursing Orientation
• Specialty Clinical Track Residency
• Professional Development Sessions
• Mentoring and Unit-based Preceptors

The Sentara Nurse Residency Program/ Transition to Practice will give you skills you need to make a successful transition. Acquire knowledge and skills to deliver safe, quality care in the clinical setting of your choice.
