JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction of the EMH Systems Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic operates, maintains and repairs equipment and systems throughout the hospital complex. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Paints and patches walls and door frames according to department standards.
- Operates, maintains and repairs equipment and systems throughout the Organization.
- Performs cutting and drilling all kinds of metal and solders copper.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and different system components as assigned.
- Contributes to the safe environment of the Organization.
- Maintains all tools and equipment properly and according to department standards.
- Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
- Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
The task of this job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but employment may require performing supplemental tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Moderate to heavy physical effort will be required with moving and installation of equipment and furnishings. Normal stress involved with day-to-day operations. Works throughout hospital in patient and non-patient areas. Will on occasion be working on equipment located in hot and dirty areas. Subject to injury from cuts, burns, strains, electric shock, exposure to high temps. and contamination from different chemicals and wastes. Must be able to move or position 50 lbs. independently. Must be able to pass color blindness test.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
There will be contact with other Associates, guests and patients on a routine basis.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Knowledge of one or more of the trades required in maintenance and repair of the facilities.
QualificationsOne to three (1-3) years experience in mechanical and/or electrical and/or building trades, preferably hospital maintenance.
