The Admin Panel team in Ascenda builds the tooling, privacy & security features that is the lifeblood of all business operations for all transactions within the Ascenda ecosystem of applications.
Everything from Customer Service call-centres aiding day-to-day customer enquiries to Marketing Managers running and tracking their sales campaigns goes through our Admin Panel. Our services here is a crucial part used by every of Ascenda’s clients driving their daily sales, creating engaged customers and facilitating organic growth for our partners.
About the Role
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers to build and maintain core components of our cloud-based Admin Panel SaaS platform. You will be responsible for the technical roadmap, architecture, and quality of our platform.
Responsibilities:
- Define the technical strategy and roadmap for new features and products.
- Maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and scalability.
- Lead the team through iterative product development cycles and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality code across the multiple platforms our AdminPanel team maintains
- Improving our call-centre support systems with Twilio Flex
- Developing configurable white-labelled banking Admin Panels that can quickly scale our delivery of common feature sets to our various customers
- Working with our sister teams (Authorizations, Rewards, Loyalty Data, Transfers, Travel) to understand how our content is used - Design, Build, Profile, and Document our datasets and the functions that enable them
- Collaborate with functional teams including product owners, design, and QA.
- Recruit and develop high-performing engineers and technical talent.
Requirements
What we're looking for:
- Strong technical background, with prior experience in similar roles such as Tech Lead, Engineering Manager or Staff level engineering roles
- Experience building large-scale, high throughput distributed systems on the Cloud
- Solid systems knowledge - having a good understanding of topics such as infrastructure, networking concepts, databases and how to optimise them
- Fluent with our main backend programming language - Ruby, or, having a strong aptitude and desire to pick up and be proficient in Ruby and/ or Typescript
- Have experience in developing technical roadmaps/RFCs to communicate technical strategy and vision
- Great collaborator - able to work comfortably in a cross-functional team, not just with engineering but with functions such as product, design and business teams
- Passionate about mentoring and/or leading a small group of engineers, guiding and coaching them for high performance
- Have a keen eye for simplicity - be able to effectively break down or simplify complex solutions to simple steps that can be executed well by the engineering team
