Key Responsibilities:
Diabetes Specialist Work duties
Assists in more focused nutrition education and support related to chronic condition management associated with Diabetes
May tailor recommendations based on the nuanced needs of the patient with Diabetes
Able to explain complex clinical issues in a variety of ways that patients with different learning levels and speeds can understand.
Highly skilled in carb counting, exchange lists, and advanced diabetes care and education
Acts in a supportive role during monthly provider meetings and provider rounds as needed to bring tougher cases under control
Follows higher risk, complex cases closely, and uses clinical judgement to determine if a patient should be retained by the specialist, escalated to a provider, or de-escalated to a more junior clinician depending on stability.
Acts as a resource to more junior RDs and HCs to help guide their care for complex cases
Mentor other clinicians more junior than themselves, including more junior specialists. May be eligible to join the clinical product advisory board.
May visit various clinical sites quarterly or more often to troubleshoot most difficult cases and engage with clinical team and provider partners onsite.
Assists the director in building and delivering clinical trainings & refining care protocols
Helps develop and test strategies that enhance care delivery and clinical outcomes

Provides clinical patient consultation support to more junior level team members
Fosters a culture of accountability and teamwork.
