Job Description

The main purpose of a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) in a training role focused on health is to educate and equip individuals with essential knowledge and skills related to patient care, health promotion, and disease prevention. This includes providing practical training, mentoring, and support to future healthcare professionals, ensuring they develop the competencies necessary for effective practice in various healthcare settings. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement educational programs and training materials related to health and patient care. 
  • Facilitate hands-on training sessions, demonstrating practical nursing skills and techniques to trainees. 
  • Assess and evaluate the competencies of trainees through assessments, observations, and feedback. 
  • Mentor and support trainees in their learning journey, providing guidance and resources to enhance their knowledge and skills. 
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and educators to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with industry standards. 
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in healthcare and nursing practices to enhance training programs. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of trainee progress and performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. 
  • Promote a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and success. 
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training to enhance instructional skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Must possess and maintain a current, active, unrestricted LVN license from any U.S. state, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory.  
  • Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
  • Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are preferred and may be required depending on the clinical setting. 
  • Minimum of one year of LVN experience within the past three years in a relevant clinical specialty. 

Education Required: 

  • Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods.  
  • May be exposed to contagious diseases, radiation, and high-stress environments. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation  Min: $18hr        Max: $50hr
