Job Description

Job Summary:

The Test Engineer is responsible for the architecture, design and bring-up of custom systems used to characterize and test wafer level MEMS, Diodes, and 3D heterogeneous devices. We are looking for a highly motivated individual interested in collaborating with a cross-functional team.

Scope: The Sr. Test Engineer will support new product development programs. This position is intended to be part of growing MEMS and advanced microelectronics packaging test engineering competency within the Advanced Sensors R&D Engineering department. The Sr. Test Engineer will be responsible for collaborating with the product and process development teams with test structure design, drafting and executing test procedures, as well as for developing or procuring test equipment in support of test and validation activities. The Sr. Test Engineer will support the automation and manufacturing engineering teams in transitioning new software into production.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Work across engineering teams to lead and coordinate best practices in test
  • Partner with product design engineers to troubleshoot, perform failure analysis, and to design tests to assess product compliance and robustness
  • Identify testing methods and test fixturing for risk mitigation, prototype development and requirement verification
  • Meet with development Leads to discuss test structure designs, software specifications and quality controls
  • Meet with Product Engineering Leads to understand design intent and methodology
  • Run test protocols to ensure that testing evaluates the articles correctly
  • Develop and manage validation and verification test plans, from concept to execution
  • Develop test requirements and their verification methods through close collaboration with the Product, Device, Process, and System Engineering teams
  • Manage and collaborate with external partners to develop new systems or metrology hardware
  • Develop manual and automated test procedures to evaluate hardware/software for new products or new production equipment
  • Interface with the customer when required to negotiate test requirements and methods, jointly developing plans, and communicate / report test results and progress
  • Represent test engineering at major program milestones and act as expert reviewer at Test Readiness Reviews
  • Finalize and document test procedures
  • Draft, complete, approve final tests and test reports
  • Plan and perform environmental qualification and testing of hardware, including functional testing, vibration testing, thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, and other qualification tests

Qualifications

 Required:

  • Willingness and ability to acquire and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • 5+ years of test engineering experience
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics preferreed.  Exceptional candidates with other technical backgrounds will be considered
  • Excellent data analytics and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and drive to make an impact
  • Strong knowledge of analog electronics and experience with board-level design and debug
  • Previous experience with MEMS test or characterization. Exceptional candidates with other test backgrounds will be considered.
