What are we looking for?
BetterHelp is seeking a Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in financial forecasting and time series analysis. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop predictive models, generate insights from complex datasets, and provide actionable recommendations that drive business strategy. You will lead efforts to build scalable, high-impact models that forecast financial performance, identify key trends, and uncover patterns within financial data. Your work will directly influence decision-making processes and business outcomes.
What will you do?
- Develop and refine predictive models for financial forecasting, including revenue projections, cash flow predictions, and budget forecasting.
- Use time series analysis techniques (e.g., ARIMA, Prophet, LSTM) to build models that predict financial metrics and trends.
- Integrate macroeconomic and financial market data to enhance forecasting accuracy and account for external market factors.
- Analyze historical financial data to identify trends, seasonality, and anomalies.
- Collaborate with business leaders to interpret data insights and provide strategic recommendations for growth and risk management.
- Create visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex insights in an accessible and actionable manner.
- Continuously improve and optimize forecasting models to enhance accuracy and reliability.
- Scale models for deployment in a production environment, ensuring that they are both efficient and effective.
- Work closely with financial analysts, business stakeholders, and data engineers to ensure alignment on business objectives and data requirements.
- Mentor junior data scientists and help foster a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in machine learning, time series forecasting, and financial modeling.
- Contribute to the research and development of new techniques and methodologies in financial analysis.

Can I work remotely?
Yes. We operate on PST and candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply. We ask employees to travel to our Mountain View, CA office up to three times per year plus one company-wide offsite to collaborate in person and strengthen working relationships. Travel expenses are covered and reasonable accommodations are made for those under unique circumstances who cannot travel.
Requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data science, with at least 3 years focused on forecasting or time series analysis.
- Strong background in building and deploying machine learning models, especially in financial contexts.
