Mechanic Maintenance - (250000OX)
The Mechanic Maintenance will perform skilled mechanic work at the journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of small-engine equipment used to manicure and maintain grounds around school district facilities.

Job OverviewThe Mechanic Maintenance will perform skilled mechanic work at the journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of small-engine equipment used to manicure and maintain grounds around school district facilities.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance Repair
- Repair or replace drive shafts, transmissions, differentials, steering and suspension assemblies, cables and controls, clutches and brakes
- Make repairs to ignition, electrical, fuel and hydraulic systems
- Repair and maintain different types of tractors, lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, trimmers, buffers, chain saws and generators
- Disassemble and reassemble engines and replace worn or broken parts
- Remove, sharpen, and replace mower blades
- Test, diagnose, and locate mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic equipment as well as inspections and performance testing
- Tune engines, adjust carburetors and fuel injectors; check and replace spark plugs, belts, hoses, filters, gaskets, pumps, pollution devices and other preventive maintenance tests
- Lubricate and change oil; check and change transmission fluids; change and repair tires
- Keep records on all repairs and maintenance work performed
- Perform and manage all work orders
- Maintain and keep shop area clean, safe and orderly
- May supervisor work of one or more employees, when applicable
Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Texas CDL Driver's License, Class A or B, with P and S endorsements Preferred
- Minimum of 1 year Skilled journeyman level in the automotive mechanic trade
- Good knowledge of the operating principles of gasoline, diesel, and LPG engines; Good knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
- Ability to diagnose and repair problems on all types of equipment used in grounds maintenance and perform test to check the effectiveness of the repair and maintenance completed
- Ability to keep records and prepare routine reports
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and fellow employees
- Skill in the use and operation of tools, equipment and machinery of the trade
