We offer an exciting International Traineeship opportunity for a media relations officer EU to help pave the way for Vattenfall, its customers and partners towards a fossil free future!

Become one of our 34 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.
Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meetups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.
Your role as a Trainee – Media Relations Officer EU
Public & Regulatory Affairs EU (PRA EU) and Media Relations (MR) ensure that Vattenfall speaks with one voice, for the benefit of a coherent policy and media landscape that supports the company’s strategic goals, and the transition of our markets to fossil freedom. Vattenfall has MR teams in all countries where it is active, but not yet in Brussels, where political decision-making will guide many policies in the countries where Vattenfall is active.
As Media Relations Officer EU you help set up a media strategy and establish media contacts in Brussels. Therefor you are also based in Brussels, report to the manager PRA EU, and get the support of the Dutch Media Relations team.
Your daily activities:
Ensuring the outreach activities of Public & Regulatory Affairs team in Brussels and globally is strengthened, by developing and executing a media & communications plan for Brussels and beyond.
Working closely with the PRA EU team to achieve the outreach goals on the relevant policy files, and to improve Vattenfall’s reputation and visibility in Brussels.
Aligning your work with the Public & Regulatory Affairs EU team members, as well as the Media Relations colleagues, to ensure consistency and synergies.
Take a leading role in raising awareness of Vattenfall´s journey among journalists.
Ad hoc, fast and professional support to our executive board members, regarding external speaking, interviews, quotes or other related activities, together with the PRA EU colleagues.

As a Trainee – Media Relations Officer EU you recognize yourself in the following:
Relevant knowledge, interest of, or experience in how media and EU politics work
Strong conceptual & strategic thinker, with an understanding of the political processes and their commercial impact.
Excellent skills in writing and editing in English
Ability to develop newsworthy stories and messaging for Vattenfall
Fluent in English and German.
Excellent communicator, with clear analytica
