POSITION PURPOSE:

The Pharmacy Billing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing for pharmacy services. This role includes managing insurance claims, verifying patient information, and working closely with pharmacists, technicians, insurance providers, and patients to resolve billing issues and optimize reimbursement processes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO;

  • Process and submit insurance claims for prescription medications and pharmacy services.
  • Review and verify patient insurance information and coverage.
  • Identify and correct billing errors, re-submit denied claims, and follow up on unpaid invoices.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim issues and discrepancies.
  • Maintain and update billing records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
  • Assist patients with billing inquiries and help them understand insurance coverage and co-pays.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy staff to ensure proper documentation for billing.
  • Generate billing reports and assist in audits as required.
  • Monitor and report on billing performance metrics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma/equivalency.
  • A degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in pharmacy billing
  • Act 33/34/73 clearances
  • Pre-employment Drug Screen

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS AND BENEFITS

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a Non-Exempt (hourly) position.

37.5 Hours per week- Monday through Friday during traditional business hours. Hours may fluctuate at the Directors discretion.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Strong accuracy/diligence and time management/organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge of insurance providers, billing codes, and reimbursement processes.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy or medical billing software (e.g., QS/1, PioneerRx, McKesson, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
