Job Description

LGC Diagnostics & Genomics is seeking a tenacious & people-oriented Inside Sales Specialist with a strong scientific background looking to advance their professional sales career.  If you are a goal driven professional who enjoys creating new business opportunities, creative problem solving, learning new technologies and collaborating with your colleagues to provide solutions that enable Science for a Safer World for our customers, this may be the right team for you.

The Inside Sales Specialist  will be responsible for successfully positioning and selling the LGC Diagnostics & Genomics portfolio inc. products and services.

The job involves identifying, qualifying and engaging with new and existing customers, positioning LGC Diagnostics & Genomics products in order to provide solutions to their scientific and business needs, and working closely with the commercial team to achieve shared revenue and growth goals.

The position is home based, with expectations to attend meetings on a regular basis with a dedicated sales territory. An element of international travel will also be expected as part of the role (<10%).

 

Position Summary:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete each of the following essential functions satisfactorily. 

  • Region: Pacific Northwest (Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming etc.)
  • Lead Management: Follow up by phone or email on new customer inquiries, sample requests, webinars and tradeshow leads to ensure touch point with all customers for cross selling.  Identify and proactively reach out to prospective customers to generate demand for LGC Biosearch & Clinical Diagnostics products and services
  • Direct Sales:  Work closely and in collaboration with Field Sales and Commercial Applications team members to achieve new sales results by utilizing a strategic sales process.  Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills to learn customers’ business requirements and recommend appropriate solutions in a consultative manner that will resolve scientific, automation, and business issues. 
  • Provide custom pricing and quotes to customers, working closely with Field Sales, Head of Sales and Product Management.  Follow-up on quotes and orders to secure recurring business and identify additional opportunities to grow business within existing accounts. 
  • Prospecting:  Proactively seek new customers as well as new business opportunities within existing customers.
  • Pipeline Management:  Assist Marketing and Product Management with efforts to generate and qualify a sufficient pipeline of prospects needed for the company to achieve goals in future periods. Pipeline management includes maintaining systems and updating prospect records to ensure accurate pipeline visibility at all levels of the corporate level. 
  • Industry and Product Knowledge:  Develop and maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, client operations, and competitive offerings to effectively position LGC Biosearch & Clinical Diagnostics products.
  • Reporting:  Provides timely sales and pipeline inputs as required to support reporting of leading and lagging indicators.

Schedule/Core Hours – Monday – Friday 8:00am-5.00pm

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences
  • Proven, effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and to travel as needed (<10%)
  • Outstanding interpersonal and networking skills to drive successful relationship building
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with experience or ability to effectively report and track sales metrics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills
  • Results-oriented, high-energy and positive “can-do” approach
  • Strong skills and expertise in using Microsoft Office and associated applications. Excellent business and sales presentation skills using PowerPoint required.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in sales, account management, or customer service.
