The Business Operations Analyst (BOA) is an integral part of the Scholar Team within the ISS unit. This role requires excellent customer service, team collaboration, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment dealing with immigration cases and compliance. The BOA leads immigration case business processes, assists with compliance, and provides client support for H-1B temporary workers, J-1 visiting scholars, and campus departments.

The BOA uses Sunapsis software to manage case intake and workflow; prepares and/or oversees paper file preparation for team members; liaisons with campus units and clients with case intake; assigns cases and tasks to team members; and utilizes Microsoft Teams and Excel to assist with business processes. Prepares and submits Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) and Prevailing Wage Determinations (PWDs) to DOL’s electronic portal, FLAG, for H-1B cases and coordinates LCA postings with campus units and OSU’s HR Talent Immigration team.  Monitors and ensures DOL compliance including the electronic and paper-based DOL public inspection files and archiving and purging paper files. Conducts the fiscal operations for H-1B case fees; works with OAA Business Services and Accounts Payable using Workday software for H-1B case check creation; picks up checks from AP’s office.

Oversees J-1 scholar health insurance compliance providing support to scholars to comply with the immigration regulations and on insurance processes. Conducts new J-1 scholar orientations and provides information sessions and support materials. Uses Sunapsis for monitoring compliance and to send scholars compliance notifications. Liaisons with the insurance provider on complex insurance questions and claims. Assists the director with annual policy renewal.

Creates and/or utilizes reports in Sunapsis for trend analysis and government compliance; assists team and Business Analyst to create and/or revise electronic forms to improve and update business processes; responds to Sunapsis user questions providing limited technical support. Monitors and orders office supplies for the team.

Supervision of 1-2 students that assist with file maintenance and administrative support.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Public Administration, International Relations, Education, or a closely related field.

Required Experience:

  • Experience with database management systems such as Sunapsis, PeopleSoft, Banner, or Terra Dotta.

  • Basic knowledge of Workday.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, manage projects, and complete assignments

Desired Experience:

  • Basic understanding or interest in immigration regulations for H-1B and J-1 non-immigrants.
  • Previous work experience with international populations and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role within higher education.
