JOB SUMMARY
Works under the direction of an Investigator(s) with general supervision, to provide ongoing data management for local and national research studies and may coordinate observational (non-treatment/treatment) trials/studies. May provide supporting role for more complex studies under the direction of the PI, Clinical Research Coordinator and/or Clinical Research Lead.
The Tissue Management shared resource in the Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center is looking to hire a Clinical Research Assistant II who would like exposure to the clinical research field. Our core facility collects human biospecimens which are used by faculty on campus for their research. In this role you will work in a fast-paced environment and interact with patients and clinical staff at UT Southwestern and Parkland Hospitals. In addition to the standard duties below, you will communicate with clinical, surgical and pathology staff regarding timely research specimen collection. You will also be explaining the purpose of the cancer center biorepository to patients and consenting those who agree to participate. Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish are highly encouraged to apply.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Communicate with clinical, surgical and pathology staff regarding timely research specimen collection.
2. Procure specimens from hospitals and clinics. Distribute specimens to researchers on campus for time
critical collections.
3. Document specimen collections in case report forms
4. Discuss the research studies and consent patients. Communicate study status with team and clinical staff in a timely manner.
5. Help with projects as needed.

High School Diploma or
Associate's Degree in medical or science related field or
Bachelor's Degree medical or science related field and no prior experience
- Experience
2 years experience with High School Diploma or
1 year experience with Associate's Degree
