Job Description
CFO.com seeks an experienced senior reporter to provide timely, insightful reporting to serve chief financial officers and finance executives. This includes enterprise reporting, in-depth features analyzing the trends and issues affecting the CFO role, high-profile Q&As, and reporting on corporate finance risks and opportunities. The senior reporter will also work with the CFO.com team to conceive and execute bigger editorial projects.
CFO.com is a publication which primarily serves the role of the CFO. Senior reporters are expected to support the team’s mission through subject matter expertise in the various areas of corporate finance, own their beats, pitch ideas, and pursue ambitious stories based on source building, keen observations and industry knowledge.
Successful candidates will chase down scoops, juggle daily and longer-term deadlines, and develop and write stories that capture the impact of economic, regulatory, and technology trends on the CFO role. The ideal candidate will be well-sourced with finance chiefs and the adjacent industry professionals that work with them. This position will report directly to the manager for the CFO.com team.
What you’ll do:
The CFO.com senior reporter will regularly write high-impact stories that lead our coverage, with a focus on subject matter expertise, sourcing, and writing voice that engages finance executives. You will monitor your beat, regularly pitch stories, cultivate relationships with diverse stakeholders and hunt down scoops.
Qualifications
A proven track record of reporting and writing in the various areas of corporate finance, which includes financial reporting, treasury, tax, regulations, compliance, and risk.
An interest in issues that most concerns CFOs, including technology disruption, the changing finance workforce, and executive career growth.
Ability to interpret and analyze complex macroeconomic trends, corporate financial position and leadership responsibility — and to connect the dots to highlight the CFO’s ability to capitalize on opportunities while mitigating business risks.
Ability to quickly take ownership of specific beats through original reporting and building relationships with important and diverse sources.
Possesses a working knowledge of digital publishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and how to maximize reporting impact with a highly selective executive audience.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced news environment; deadline-oriented time management skills and ability to turn around stories on tight deadlines.
Experience writing web headlines and editing copy.
Familiarity with newsletter publishing operations and objectives.
Bachelor's degree or better in journalism, English or related field.
5+ years experience, with at least 3 years of experience in corporate finance or related reporting.
Additional Information
The salary range for the role is $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 USD depending on experience.
