The role
SoFi is searching for a Senior Accountant to support our growing business. This role will be a key contributor in supporting the daily operations of the Corporate GL team, with a focus on technical accounting transaction treatment, accounting for vendor expenses and accruals, ASC 842 treatment, ASC 606 treatment, intercompany accounting and treatment, as well as other responsibilities. The right person will thrive with the eagerness to learn, using innovative approach to solving problems, ready to accept new challenges, and willing to contribute to improving our end-to-end processes. This role will report directly to the Assistant Control.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and annual financial close processes
  • Prepare journal entries, analyze fluctuations in results and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP
  • Oversee Staff Accountant(s) and review Journal Entries, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, & Variance Analysis
  • Oversee the end-to-end accounting processes for areas 
  • Research and interpret accounting treatment of new vendor contracts
  • Produce analyses to support other business functions in management decision making
  • Provide support in the preparation of quarterly SEC financial filings
  • Assist with year-end annual audit as well as internal audit and SOX requests
  • Drive process improvements and automation to improve efficiencies within workstreams
  • Work directly with different business units to facilitate cross function communication

 

What you’ll need:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a professional, fast-moving environment
  • Master’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of 2+ years accounting experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum 3+ years of accounting experience
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and clearly communicating accounting issues to finance and non-finance personnel
  • Experience in a public company environment preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Having experience working in Alteryx or Tablaeu is a plus
  • Experience with Netsuite preferred
  • Ability to function in a highly collaborative environment
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail, analytical abilities and consistent follow-through, including project management skills
  • Ability to partner with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, legal, and HR
