About the role

The Director of Facilities and Maintenance is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and operational support for all engineering and maintenance functions across the Ivy Hospitality portfolio. This role partners with Regional Directors of Operations, General Managers, and Chief Engineers to ensure the overall maintenance, safety, operational integrity, and asset preservation of each hotel. The Director of Facilities and Maintenance oversees engineering standards, preventive maintenance programs, capital planning, life safety compliance, technical training, and mechanical system performance while supporting hotel teams in delivering a safe, efficient, and exceptional guest experience.

 Pay Range: $110,000 - $130,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience

  • Provide leadership and operational support for all engineering and maintenance departments throughout the Ivy Hospitality portfolio.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain company engineering standards, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency across all hotels.
  • Train, coach, mentor, and develop Chief Engineers and Maintenance Technicians, promoting technical excellence, accountability, and career development.
  • Ensure all hotels maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for guest rooms, public areas, building systems, and mechanical equipment.
  • Review preventive maintenance completion, work order management, and engineering reporting to ensure company standards are consistently met.
  • Conduct routine property visits to evaluate engineering operations, building condition, equipment performance, and overall maintenance standards.
  • Analyze the condition and performance of major mechanical systems, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, plumbing, electrical systems, refrigeration, elevators, fire alarm systems, generators, and other critical building infrastructure.
  • Assist hotel teams in troubleshooting complex maintenance issues and provide recommendations for repair, replacement, or long-term asset preservation.
  • Partner with General Managers and Regional Directors to develop corrective action plans for engineering deficiencies and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Oversee company life safety programs and ensure compliance with fire safety requirements, emergency procedures, OSHA regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support annual capital planning by evaluating property infrastructure, identifying equipment replacement needs, and assisting with capital expenditure recommendations.
  • Review engineering budgets, utility expenses, maintenance contracts, and repair expenditures to identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Establish and monitor engineering performance metrics, including preventive maintenance completion, work order aging, equipment downtime, utility usage, out-of-order rooms, and life safety compliance.
  • Coordinate and support hotel renovations, capital improvement projects, hotel transitions, and property acquisitions as needed.
  • Develop relationships with engineering vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality workmanship, competitive pricing, and timely completion of projects.
  • Support hotels during emergency situations, major equipment failures, severe weather events, and other operational challenges requiring engineering leadership.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Accounting, People and Culture, and Property Leadership to improve overall hotel performance and asset preservation.
  • Participate in operational reviews, budget meetings, forecast discussions, quality assurance preparation, and leadership meetings.
  • Ensure all guest interactions are conducted in a courteous and professional manner, aligning with company standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Operations, supporting the overall success of hotel operations.
  • Uphold the company's values and standards, ensuring all actions and decisions align with the organization's goals and ethical guidelines.

Qualifications:

Education: Minimum of a 2-year degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive hotel engineering experience, with multi-property or above-property engineering leadership preferred.
