Department Leader, Ops
Opelika, Alabama
The overall responsibility of the Lead role is to inspire manufacturing operations to achieve timely daily, weekly, and monthly results in the areas of safety, quality, cost and reliability while meeting department schedule adherence and attainment goals. Models Pharmavite’s purpose, beliefs, and values for their employees by: embedding a first-time right mentality to reduce operational NCRs and reject/destruction costs, promoting robust root cause problem solving/CAPA development capability within their team, and meeting schedule adherence and attainment goals to deliver customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:
- Lead and set the standard and tone for their team by modeling Pharmavite’s purpose, beliefs, and values and while driving meeting schedule adherence and attainment goals to deliver customer requirements while meeting deadlines.
- Ensure productivity, safety, housekeeping, and quality product goals are met/exceeded; coordinates daily scheduling with other departments to facilitate flow of materials and finished goods through the department. Monitors operations of shift while sustaining changes to ensure first time right mentality.
- Collaborate with Production Planning, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Distribution, HR, Tech Ops, Engineering, Planning, Operational Excellence and Receiving departments to expedite and facilitate flow of raw materials, compounds, bulk, and finished product through the department. Is the point person to communicate shop floor issues to the Operations Engineer.
- Investigate NCRs working in partnership with Quality to drive root cause problem-solving with urgency.
- Champion/coach teams on AM projects.
- Perform analysis of raw material usage and product yields to ensure we meet or exceed standards.
- Prioritize work to ensure customer, quality and safety needs are met and or exceeded, positively impacting production metrics.
- Ensure safe practices are being performed and unsafe behaviors and conditions are corrected.
- Provide technical support for staff for equipment and processes (trouble shoots and develops control techniques).
- Oversees and ensures operating expenditures in order to meet or exceed expectations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate has Requires minimum of four years’ experience in manufacturing/CPG, to include supervisory/leadership experience. Specific experience in the department to which applied is preferred.
Critical Success Factors
You’ll be most successful in this role if you have:
- Competent knowledge of SOPs, cGMPs, within a CPG environment
- Experience working within a rapidly evolving environment, able to adjust to changing job requirements.
- Experiencing Leading and coaching AM projects.
- Experience performing auditing in areas related to cGMPs, Batch Record Accuracy and TPM requirements
- Good organizational, analytical, problem solving, oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, JD Edwards MRP, and Powerpoint preferred.
- Working knowledge in MRP, WMS, & radio frequency systems.
- A four-year degree or its equivalent combination of education/relevant work experience is required.
