Role Overview / Purpose and Scope
The Broiler Field Service Technician serves as a technical resource for Farmer Focus growers by providing guidance and support related to poultry production, farm facilities, equipment, medication programs, and operational practices. This role uses knowledge of poultry farming, hatchery operations, processing, and production standards to help farmers improve flock health, production efficiency, product quality, and compliance with company and cooperative agreement requirements.
The Broiler Field Service Technician plays an important role in supporting grower relationships, animal health, production performance, continuous improvement, and the delivery of quality poultry products. This position requires strong communication, problem-solving, technical, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to travel to farms and work effectively with farmers, management, laboratory personnel, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect farms for compliance with contract and cooperative agreement standards.
- Advise farmers regarding development programs and best practices that support quality poultry production.
- Tour farms to inspect facilities, equipment, sanitation, and operational efficiency.
- Examine chickens for evidence of disease, flock health concerns, and growth rate.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of medication and feeding programs.
- Recommend changes in facilities, equipment, medication, or farm practices to improve production.
- Inform farmers of new procedures, techniques, government regulations, company standards, and association production standards.
- Support farmers in upgrading farms and meeting applicable requirements.
- Recommend laboratory testing of diseased chickens, feed, supplements, or other samples as needed.
- Gather samples and transport them to the plant laboratory for analysis when required.
- Report farm conditions, laboratory test results, recommendations, farmer feedback, and farmer efforts to management.
- Initiate corrective, preventive, and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Actively participate in developing, implementing, and verifying corrective and improvement actions.
- Enter production and downtime information accurately and timely.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with farmers, internal teams, management, and other stakeholders.
- Operate company-provided vehicles or personal vehicles for work-related business as required.
- Follow all safety rules and instructions, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Participate in company training programs and make every effort to learn, develop, and upgrade skills required for the role.
- Participate on the audit team or safety committee as needed.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.
Compensation: $50,000 - $65,000
