A Day in the Life

Medtronic is hiring for multiple Facilities Automation Maintenance Technician positions at our Airways Distribution Center in Memphis, TN. We’ve been on a three-year journey to modernize our U.S. distribution network and transform how we distribute our products. The Airways DC is one of two new U.S. distribution hubs opened within the last two years to enhance and streamline our delivery operations. We’re aiming to elevate the customer experience and generate cost savings with state-of-the-art technology and standardized processes. But none of it can happen without you – the people who power our operations and ensure that our customers receive our life-saving therapies when they need them. This critical role supports ongoing maintenance of our automation, conveyance, and sortation equipment to enable the distribution center to serve patients around the world.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Proactively performs scheduled preventive maintenance on automation, conveyance, and sortation equipment to minimize unplanned downtime and ensure equipment is maintained in like-new condition 

  • Works flexibly with Operations leadership to perform maintenance activities during shift changes, lunch breaks, and other opportune times where possible 

  • Acts with urgency and leverages experience and deep knowledge of automation and conveyance to quickly restore equipment to operation following an unplanned event 

  • May perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. 

  • May perform work in additional maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. 

  • Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. 

  • Implements reliability best practices in alignment with Medtronic Facilities Maintenance Excellence strategy 

  • Uses hand and power tools. 

  • Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment. 

  • Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications 

 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements 

 

  • Requires minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
