Your role
The Senior Client Service Officer Specialist (SCSO-S) assists clients in complex situations who require support in trying to get housing or who are trying to sustain their current tenancy. The SCSO-S builds strong relationships with the service sector and would suit an organised, adaptive and resilient person who is client-centered, and outcome focused. The SCSO-S provides advice and refers clients to appropriate support services in relation to a broad range of tenancy and property management services.
As a SCSO-S you could be working across a range of housing programs like the Rent Choice Suite (Start Safely, Rent Choice Youth) or Assertive Outreach. A SCSO-S will work within existing guidelines, policies and systems to increase efficiency and delivery service outcomes.
The SCSO-S is required to provide mentorship and support to the client service teams, including providing instruction, purpose and direction to Client Service Officers (CSO) and to demonstrate leadership qualities.
Working collaboratively with CSOs, Team Leaders and internal and external service providers, you will develop innovative strategies to deliver improved client outcomes, contribute to continual improvement in efficacy and add to the positive and collegial culture.
SCSO-S roles include a mixture of field work to engage with clients in situ and office-based work and attending meetings at sector partner’s offices. The Assertive Outreach work includes engaging with rough sleepers in early morning outreach group work with sector partners. A SCSO-S requires someone who is proactive, adaptive, ethical, and positive. Having exceptional time management and communication will keep you in good stead for a fast-paced and varied role.
Assertive Outreach – Talent Pool Creation: A life as a SCSO-S in Assertive Outreach (AO) means working in collaboration with case workers in the Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) organisations to go on early-morning patrols - being an early bird will assist you in this.
Working alongside nurses, mental health, NDIS, and drug and alcohol workers the SCSO-S assists clients in getting support they need with a view to long-term housing and tenancy retention. You will maintain various data sets with attention to detail to ensure AO operations run smoothly and efficiently, respond to rough sleeper flags and organise Temporary Accommodation (TA).
