Job Title: Manager, Contract – Mature Engine Programs
Working Pattern: Fulltime
Working location: Indianapolis, IN
Rolls-Royce has been awarded a number of significant USG development programs in recent years including FLRAA, B-52 CERP and MQ-25 complimenting the existing business of providing power to established aircraft (C-130J, V22 and F35) and we are looking for experienced Contract Managers to join our team of contracting professionals to support the administration of these key programs.
The Contracts team plays a critical role in enabling new business growth, while mitigating risk. You’ll have an aptitude for understanding the business and how to shape our contractual framework to make sure we balance risk and reward across a culturally diverse range of customers and partners.
As a Contracts Manager within Defence you will support a range of existing contracts and growth opportunities. This will include developing compliant proposals, negotiating and securing contracts and contract administration. This role provides the opportunity to work with senior management and executive teams both within Rolls-Royce and the customer community as we deliver against our programs.
Due to the customer facing nature of this role, there may be demands for work outside the normal core hours and the position could involve a requirement to travel, sometimes at short notice.

What you will be doing:
- Develop contractual solutions and strategies for complex issues (both in the win-business and contract management phases) using relevant processes and procedures.
- Draft and negotiate contract terms with customers using appropriate techniques and strategies
- Identify potential risks and liabilities in concepts, proposals and contracts and implement appropriate means to manage these throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Lead activities and support others in the team with your supportive coaching style.
Basic Requirement:
- Associate's degree in business management, Law or Finance with 7+ years’ experience with managing or negotiating contracts;
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Law or Finance with 5+ years’ experience with managing or negotiating contracts; Or
- Master’s degree in business management, Law or Finance with 3+ years with managing or negotiating contracts; Or
- PhD/JD in Business Management, Law or Finance
- Proven interpersonal and organization skills.
- In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.
Preferred Requirements:
- Sound business and commercial acumen including the ability to interpret commercial issues and understand the commercial components of deals (e.g. pricing & negotiation levers) and how to influence them.
- Previous USG contracting and/or FMS experience including responsibility for managing a substantive customer / supplier / partner relationship.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing.
