Organizational Summary:Girls on the Run Rhode Island is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Our programs combine social-emotional learning, physical activity, community impact projects, and culminate in joyful 5K celebrations. Since 2012, Girls on the Run RI served 7,575 third through eighth grade participants throughout Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts. We believe that all girls and communities should have access to our programs. We strive to eliminate barriers to participation, create programming that engages all communities, and promote a culture of inclusion across the organization.
Position Summary:
The Engagement Manager builds and nurtures meaningful relationships that strengthen Girls on the Run Rhode Island’s connection to the communities we serve. This role is responsible for engaging key external partners including volunteers, community organizations, higher education institutions, and corporate partners through intentional outreach, thoughtful stewardship, clear communication, and collaborative support. The Engagement Manager plays a vital role in ensuring every partner feels valued, informed, and inspired by our mission.
Key Responsibilities
Community Cultivation and Stewardship- Build and deepen relationships across corporate, higher education, community-based partners, and volunteer groups to foster a sense of belonging and continued engagement.
- Attend and initiate outreach meetings and community events to increase visibility, recruit volunteers, and strengthen partnerships.
- Identify and cultivate new connections that expand our network and enhance our programming and fundraising events.
- Design and manage feedback and evaluation tools to measure partner experiences, track engagement and communications trends, and share insights with stakeholders.
- Create and deliver meaningful end-of-season gratitude reports and recognition materials for partners and volunteers.
- Serve as a key external representative at the spring and fall 5Ks and other events to ensure partners and volunteers feel valued and connected.
- Design and implement an annual communications plan and content calendar that includes social media, email marketing, website updates, and other outreach channels.
- Highlight program impact and share inspiring stories about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships through engaging and mission-driven content.
- Lead creative strategies to strengthen community engagement and empower volunteers and ambassadors to share our mission with new and diverse audiences.
- Ensure all communications reflect the Girls on the Run brand, tone, and values.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Qualities and Qualifications- Two to five years of experience in community engagement, program or volunteer management, youth services, or a related field.
- Passion for the Girls on the Run mission and the communities we serve.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences and confidently represent the organization in a variety of settings.
- Skilled relationship-builder to create meaningful and lasting partnerships with volunteers, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and execute strategies that achieve goals and deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
- Experienced in content creation and management of social media and email marketing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace and familiarity using Canva, CRM systems, and other digital tools.
- Based within and able to travel regularly throughout our council territory (Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events, trainings, and community outreach.
- Ability to lift and move boxes up to 20 pounds as needed for event activities.
