About the role

<p></p><p></p><p><b>About the team: </b></p><p></p><p></p><p>We are seeking a Senior IFRS Specialist to join Maersk’s External Reporting and Technical Accounting team, based at our Copenhagen headquarters, who will help us navigate complex IFRS challenges while driving global compliance excellence.</p><p>The team serves as the center of excellence for accounting and IFRS compliance. It comprises 5 accounting specialists who provide in-house accounting consultancy for the organization and management. It is furthermore responsible for preparing Maersk’s interim and annual reports, including consolidated financial statements. Operating within an international and diverse environment, the team values a variety of perspectives and fosters collaboration to ensure best-in-class financial reporting and compliance.</p><p></p><p></p><p><b>Your responsibilities: </b></p><ul><li>Serve as part of a team of in-house IFRS specialists, providing guidance and support to senior stakeholders on complex or unusual accounting matters.</li><li>Continuously monitor, interpret, and communicate new and amended IFRS standards to ensure compliance across the organization.</li><li>Design and deliver IFRS-related training sessions to enhance the Group’s technical accounting knowledge.</li><li>Maintain and update the Group’s accounting and reporting instructions in accordance with IFRS requirements.</li><li>Support the preparation of accurate and compliant financial statements for interim and annual reports, including active participation in quarterly controlling processes.</li><li>Assess, challenge, and provide insights on accounting considerations for investment proposals.</li><li>Collaborate directly with Group auditors to ensure alignment in the interpretation and application of IFRS standards.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>What we are looking for:</b></p><p></p><p>Education:</p><ul><li>A bachelor’s degree is required.</li><li>A master’s degree in accounting or a related field, and/or a recognized professional accounting designation (e.g. Statsautoriseret Revisor, CPA, CA, ACCA, or similar), is preferred.</li></ul><p></p><p>Experience:</p><ul><li>At least five years of experience in technical accounting, IFRS advisory, auditing, or a related financial discipline.</li></ul><p></p><p>Technical Expertise:</p><ul><li>Strong understanding of IFRS, with an ability to interpret and apply accounting standards effectively. You may not have all the answers upfront, but you are proactive in researching accounting regulations to propose well-reasoned solutions.</li><li>Familiarity with Danish GAAP, the Danish Financial Statements Act, and the Danish Companies Act is advantageous.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p>Key Competencies and Attributes:</p><ul><li>A highly analytical and inquisitive mindset, with a strong ability to assess complex financial matters.</li><li>A proactive self-starter who is comfortable working independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment and knows when to switch between the two effectively.</li><li>Ability to translate theoretical accounting principles into practical business applications, ensuring sound financial decision-making.</li><li>Effective communicator, capable of conveying intricate accounting concepts in clear and accessible terms to diverse stakeholders.</li><li>Fluent in both written and spoken English.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>Application Process:</b></p><p>We’re excited to meet curious minds who want to make a difference.
