Job Objective:

Responsible for the development, promotion, resourcing and administration of programming for Salvation Army character building ministries programs and to discover and develop new initiatives for evangelism, Bible training, spiritual formation, and youth development within those areas using youth asset development model.

 

Compensation Range: $57,977 to $72,471/annually, based on experience.

I LEADERSHIP OF CORPS YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAMS

Provide specific oversight and services through divisional headquarters of all youth outreach programs including Character Building, Vacation Bible School, and community center based programs in the USA Central Territory;

 

Assist and resource divisions and corps to improve youth outreach programs, through:

  • Qualitative and quantitative evaluations
  • Determination of program needs
  • Achievement of program balance within the overall corps ministry
  • Goal-setting and measurement of program effectiveness
  • Coordinate and supervise character building troop/program registrations and process higher level awards. Monitor membership and attendance statistical trends, compile territorial reports, prepare higher awards, special recognitions and all other related details; Assist divisions to develop, promote, and implement training courses and programs for leaders of character building programs in cooperation with appropriate divisional personnel;
  • Provide leadership support and training for divisional directors of youth outreach ministry programs; including but not limited to community centers, after school programs, Red Shield centers, and evangelistic campaigns
  • Represent The Salvation Army in local, regional, territorial or national events and committees which are related to the specific ministry responsibilities of this position;
  • Promote and resource divisional rallies, camps, institutes, seminars and any other events relating to youth outreach ministries and make field visits as requested and approved by the Territorial Youth Secretary;
  • Assist as requested in developing, coordinating, promoting, and implementing territorial jamboree, in cooperation with the Territorial Youth Secretary and other appropriate personnel;
  • Be conversant in and support The Salvation Army’s child safety program, Safe from Harm.
  • Be familiar with Boy Scouts programming; oversee territorial troops and act as liaison with BSA representatives.
  • Understand and promote youth asset development. Utilize asset-based approach in the development of programs and materials for use in youth programs.
  • Any reasonable, professional assignment not listed above as requested or assigned by the TYS.

II PROGRAM AND RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

  • Serve as a central resource person for the development of guidelines; special event materials; program aids, specifications, and standards; and
