Position: Hospice CNA Per Diem

Location: Hospice House 2108 W Entiat Ave Kennewick, WA 99336 primary with opportunity to pick up per diem shifts in home serving patients in Benton and Franklin County after training.

Type: Per Diem

Anticipated Schedule: per diem, minimum of 2 shifts per month, one must be a night or weekend, minimum of 2 holidays per year

Position Overview:

The Hospice House Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for personal care services to the Hospice House. The helps provide and maintain bodily and emotional comfort and assist patients to achieve maximum quality of life. The Hospice Care CNA functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide patient care and supportive services according to a written plan of care. The Hospice House CNA receives general supervision from the Clinical Nurse Supervisor and direct supervision from the In Home and Hospice House Nurse (RN and/or LPN).


Minimum Qualifications:

1. Current unrestricted Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License 

2. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). 

3. Minimum eighteen (18) years of age. 

4. Minimum of two years of Certified Nursing Assistant experience. 

5. Ability to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. 


Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience working as a nurse aide or therapy assistant preferred. 

2. Bilingual, preferred. 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Patient Care: 

1. Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. 

2. Meal preparation, including specified diet and diet reinforcement. 

3. Assist with specific nursing procedures as determined appropriate by the nurse supervising the patient's care program utilizing principles of clean technique and skills of observation to note the patient's response to treatment. 

4. Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, offering reassurance and comfort. 

5. Assist in turning, repositioning, and transferring patients to ensure their comfort and prevent bedsores. 

6. Administer medications as directed by the RN and care plan. 

7. Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patients' condition. 

8. Maintain a clean and safe patient environment. 

Communication: 

9. Collaborate with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care. 

10. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, addressing their concerns and providing updates on the patient's condition. 

11. Document all care activities accurately and promptly in the patient's medical record. 

Supportive Services: 

12. Assist in providing end-of-life care, ensuring patients are comfortable and pain-free. 

13. Offer emotional support and assist families in coping with the challenges of hospice care. 

14. Participate in the planning and implementation of patients' care plans. 

15. Attend regular team meetings and contribute to care discussions. 

Safety and Compliance: 

16. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures. 

17. Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as the facility's policies and procedures. 

18. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in hospice care. 

Other Duties: 

19. Perform other duties as assigned. 


CLINICAL STAFF POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

1. As required per position/credentialing; successful completion of A.I.D.’s Training 

2. Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Safety (BLS) 

3. Washington State Food Worker Card issued by the Department of Health
