Job Description

**This is a Full Time, client based position at 40 hours per week located at the Crystal Lake clinic. Schedule is Monday through Friday.**

The Sports Performance Personal Trainer - Lead reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Sports Performance Personal Trainer – Lead assumes the primary role in the supervision, development and implementation of department-related initiatives and demonstrates team building skills to facilitate team engagement and growth.

This position includes direct client contact, mentoring and departmental process improvement initiatives.

Serves as a role model for all personal trainers in all aspects of professional, clinical communication, education and leadership activities.

The Lead places the needs of the client as top priority and demonstrates the skills necessary to meet and exceed expectations.

Must possess a high degree of energy, resourcefulness and reliability as well as exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and professional behavior. Must be able to maintain a good rapport with physicians, clients and family, other team members in adjacent departments and the community. Must be able to supervise employees in a fair, objective, and tactful manner.

A personal trainer who complies with the Code of Ethics/Standards of Practice. This position includes direct client care, teaching, participation on appropriate committees and departmental process improvement. Serves as a role model for all personal trainers and interns in all aspects of professional, clinical, communication, education and leadership activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates the NM Values of teamwork, patients first, integrity and excellence in daily work and interactions with others.
  • In collaboration with the manager and director, is actively involved in the operational aspects of department operations to support unit specific programs and organizational initiatives.
  • Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with other departments and leaders in the organization.
  • Coordinates daily work activities of employees including schedule/assignments, vacation time and schedule changes.
  • Enforces policy and procedures
  • Trains new employees.
  • Ensures all clients are scheduled and receive the appropriate services by ongoing monitoring of schedules and billable standards.
  • Assesses adequate staffing levels and participates in the employee interview process to ensure all candidates meet standards for hire. Assists Manager in orienting new staff.
  • Provides timely, positive, constructive feedback and holds staff accountable for change as evidenced by observation and peer feedback.
  • Contributes information as part of the performance appraisal process. Works with the Manager in addressing performance gaps as they occur with clear action plans and recommendations for improvement.
  • Identifies potential problems or opportunities in processes or personnel and communicates them to the Manager/Director along with recommendations for improvement.
  • Assists with the development of policies and procedures that reflect current operational standards.
  • Participates in the planning, development and implementation of department and program related initiatives to reduce costs, streamline work processes, improve and grow services provided within the department.
  • Fosters a culture of respectful communication by listening, asking for input, open discussions, and timely acknowledgement of individual and team contributions.
  • Uses effective service recovery skills to solve problems or service breakdowns as they occur, keeping leader appraised of any issues.
  • Maintains department financial records and collects payments from clients. Adjusts patient fee schedules based on individual needs.
  • Provides input for equipment and major purchase decisions. Authorizes purchase of supplies.
