Overview:

The Consumer, Industrial & Retail (“CIR”) Investment Banking group at Scotiabank covers leading North American companies and financial investors across a wide range of sectors.  The CIR team is focused on building and maintaining relationships with senior executives and private equity professionals and providing these clients with a full suite of investment banking services, including advising on mergers & acquisitions and equity & debt capital market transactions.  

 

 

What You’ll Do  

• Champion a client-centric culture focused on deepening relationships within the Consumer, Industrials, and Retail sectors. Leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to deliver tailored solutions that generate revenue.
• Coordinate with various product groups and industry teams within GBM to provide comprehensive services to clients.
• Develop and maintain effective industry relationships with key clients in the CIR sectors.
• Actively support Managing Directors and Directors on mandates for key CIR clients, ensuring strong execution and coordination with other areas of Scotiabank to deliver multi-product pitches and offerings.
• Execute complex transactions with limited senior management oversight, focusing on day-to-day execution of mandates within the CIR sectors.
• Demonstrate inclusive leadership by coaching team members and acting as a mentor to promote continuous growth and development.
• Lead junior bankers in managing workflow for origination and execution, ensuring efficient delegation and completion of tasks.
• Develop junior bankers across CIB and GBM through active engagement, skill development (technical, coverage, and leadership), and providing real-time feedback.
• Actively partner with group leaders and the broader team to build team dynamics and engagement across teams.
• Assist in resource management to optimize team performance.

 

What You’ll Bring 

• 6+ years’ work experience in Investment Banking, preferably Consumer, Industrial, Retail experience.
• Excellent command of industry standard market data sources, such as Credit Sights, LCD News, Bloomberg, and other sources 
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science or Technology
• Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A high level of attention to detail
