Nurse Manager, RN - Operating Room - Mount Sinai Morningside - Full Time - Day Shift

The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of: clinical nursing practice, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, supply chain and budget, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements. The Nurse Manager collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision / management of patient care. He or she works closely with the Nursing Clinical Director, unit Dyad partner and staff in insuring that the Service/Unit maintains the highest standards of patient care and is responsive to the needs of the patient & family as well as the organization

The Nurse Manager is a Registered Professional Nurse with broad knowledge and skills, a clinical leader in the daily function of the unit, with oversight of quality patient care delivery, and who facilitates an environment of care that supports quality nursing practice and clinical excellence.

• Leads nursing practice using the tenets of the Professional Practice Model of Relationship Centered Care and the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing for the promotion of the patient experience.
• Demonstrates proficiency in all aspects of Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) and role models expected behaviors.
• Ensures the integration of PHR into clinical activities to enhance Relationship Centered Care.
• Validate staff members, round hourly on all patients by direct observation and patient feedback.
• Assesses staff competency in PHR and provides consistent meaningful feedback with more focused feedback as needed.

 

• Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing required; Master's Degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field or be enrolled in a program preferred 
• Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State
• Basic Life Saver (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA
• 3-5 years of nursing clinical care with Charge Nurse/Supervisory experience preferred.
• Must have relevant clinical competence in the area of nursing practice assigned.
• Evidence of ability to maintain and promote interpersonal relationships and work effectively and efficiently to solve problems.
• Demonstrates the ability to work in a team displaying effective communication. 
• Critical thinking and organizational skills are essential.
