About the role

Overview

The Hatzell Group in the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment at Princeton University is seeking applications for an open temporary research position. Our group investigates dynamic interfaces in energy storage, conversion, and separations applications, with a focus on next-generation clean energy technologies.

 

We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to the design, fabrication, and testing of engineering components for solid-state batteries and related energy technologies.

Responsibilities

The researcher will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the design and machining of custom experimental hardware, including cell housings, test fixtures, and flow systems.
  • Supporting the development of prototype components for battery and separations experiments.
  • Collaborating with researchers to translate experimental needs into functional, precision-engineered parts.
  • Participating in laboratory experiments to evaluate the performance of engineered systems.

Qualifications

We seek applicants with a background or interest in:

  • Mechanical design, machining, and prototyping (CAD, CNC, or related skills are a plus).
  • Hands-on experimentation and troubleshooting in a dynamic laboratory setting.
  • Energy storage and conversion, with a focus on advanced battery systems.This position offers an opportunity to gain experience in applied engineering design for cutting-edge energy research, working closely with a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.
