Job Description

At LinkedIn, our approach to flexible work is centered on trust and optimized for culture, connection, clarity, and the evolving needs of our business. The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

At LinkedIn, we are unwavering in our commitment to building trust with our global audiences and ensuring our platform remains a safe and trusted space for every professional. Our Global Communications team is instrumental in maintaining this trust by spearheading proactive campaigns and adeptly managing complex issues.

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic communications leader to join us as the Senior Director of Corporate Communications. In this pivotal role, you will drive the strategy and execution of our trust communications initiatives, with a strong focus on issues management. This includes overseeing both proactive and reactive communications related to policy and regulatory matters, ensuring they align with our organizational goals and meet stakeholder expectations. Reporting directly to the Chief Communications Officer, you will collaborate closely with the Legal, Policy, Privacy, and Compliance teams to advance our global communications strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Global Trust Communications team, fostering a high-performing and inclusive culture across multiple geographies.

  • Provide expert communications counsel to internal stakeholders, including Legal, Policy, and Product executive teams, managing expectations and ensuring alignment.

  • Serve as the primary lead for global media relations strategies related to trust communications and act as the spokesperson of record for the company, representing LinkedIn as a leader during tough cycles, mitigating bad press and minimizing reputation damage.

  • Build and execute earned media and owned content programs to enhance trust and transparency with external audiences.

  • Collaborate with regional and country-specific communications teams to align global and local strategies, tailoring approaches to diverse markets.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including Employee Communications, Public Policy, Legal, Global Sales, and Marketing, to support integrated communication efforts.

  • Lead response strategies for regulatory issues and crises, ensuring timely and accurate communication with stakeholders.

  • Act as the front line of defense and proactive offense to mitigate issues from the media, regulators, employees, and members/customers, driving the outcome of maintaining trust for the business and clearing the way for GTM campaigns to land softly with external audiences.

  • Engage one-on-one with LET and their direct reports to evaluate risks facing the company, consider necessary policy adjustments, and communicate effectively to keep employees engaged and undistracted by issues facing the company.

  • Build relationships outside of Communications with leaders, establishing trust to gain alignment and resources around key topics impacting the business reputation.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 13+ years of external communications experience.

  • 10+ years of issues management experience.

  • 10+ years of people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to inspire, develop, and lead high-performing teams in a global setting.

  • Demonstrated experience providing strategic counsel to executives, with strong business acumen and the ability to prioritize for maximum impact.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, including experience as a public speaker and media spokesperson.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.

  • Track record of developing and executing global communications strategies for technology or consumer brands.
