Senior Global Supply Advisor - Oil Macro

We are seeking a Senior Upstream and Oil Supply Advisor to join the growing Oil Macro team to provide strategic guidance and expert counsel on upstream oil markets and oil supply chain management. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in advising clients on upstream and oil production projects, investment decisions, and risk management, and will have ideally worked in operations with a large oil & gas producer. This role requires a deep understanding of global oil production, supply chain logistics, regulatory frameworks, market trends, and long-term scenarios for the energy landscape. The Senior Global Supply Advisor will serve as a trusted voice to strategists, senior executives, and decision-makers, offering insights and recommendations to capitalize on market opportunities and optimize business performance.

Responsibilities:

As part of the Oil Macro desk, work closely with Rystad Energy Upstream desk and Energy Macro Desk to develop original and insightful analysis for global oil macro scenarios over the next 3 decades.

Collaborate closely with the Oil Trading desk to identify short-term production and supply changes and opportunities that have global/macro relevance. Carry out insightful analysis about that and write Oil Macro commentaries.

Conduct in-depth analysis of global oil production, exploration activities, and supply chain logistics to identify risks and opportunities for Oil Macro clients.

Develop customized strategies and solutions to address Oil Markets clients' specific needs and objectives in the analysis of the upstream oil sector.

Advise Oil Macro clients on regulatory changes and risk management practices related to upstream oil markets and operations.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies, market innovations, and geopolitical developments impacting the upstream oil industry. Be a recognized Industry expert.

Build and maintain relationships with key clients, industry stakeholders, and thought leaders around the world to enhance the firm's reputation and market presence.

Present Oil Macro insight at key international conferences. Be a recognizable voice in the social and mass media.

Collaborate with internal Rystad Energy teams to develop comprehensive client presentations, proposals, and deliverables.

Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives within the organization.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, geology, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of experience in the oil & gas industry, advising clients on upstream oil market strategies and supply chain management, and/or managing Upstream operations.

Proven track record of delivering strategic insights and solutions to clients in the upstream oil sector.

Deep understanding of global oil production dynamics, supply chain logistics, and regulatory frameworks.

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable recommendations. Ability to identify the “so what” for Oil Macro clients out of complex analysis.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Strategic mindset with a focus on delivering value-added solutions and driving business growth.

Proficiency in industry databases, market intelligence platforms, and analytical tools. Working knowledge of Python and Power BI.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Location: This position is for one of our main offices (Houston or Oslo), with opportunities to remote work for an exceptional candidate. Frequent travels to visit clients globally is required (up to 33% of the time)
