Job Posting Description

Brief Overview
Physician Assistant, Plastic and Oral Surgery/Sedation to support its Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. This Physician Assistant will be responsible for seeing outpatient consults, providing IV conscious sedation, as well as first and second assisting in the OR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer IV conscious sedation, including IV placement, peri-, intra-and post-procedural assessment and monitoring of patients undergoing IV sedation in the office-based setting
  • Provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages and with all types of conditions
  • Elicit histories, perform examinations, order and interpret diagnostic studies, instruct and counsel patients about their diagnosis
  • Provide all aspects of pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as first or second assisting during surgery
  • Facilitate the appropriate referral of patients, consistent with his or her supervising physician’s scope of expertise and responsibility and delegated to him/her by the supervising physician
  • Working 40 hours per week, 4–10-hour days Monday through Friday in Boston and Waltham as well as the possibility of travelling to other satellite locations as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies
Experience:   
  • The knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of an accredited Physician Assistant’s program
  • The analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific, or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experience-based knowledge
  • Strong communication skills to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and medicated fair solutions, and well-developed writing skills
  • A strong interest in and understanding of the Plastic and Oral Surgery disciplines strongly preferred
Licensure/ Certifications:
  • A current license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • ACLS, PALS, and BLS certification (will provide training if not already certified)
