What you'll do...

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a significant role in building world class capabilities to solve real world business problems in the merchandising area of Sam's Club.

Sam's Club is our membership warehouse club, a business model that provides our members with high-quality products at prices that are unrivaled by traditional retail. Sam's Club provides a carefully curated assortment of items, as well as developing and leading technologies and services such as Scan & Go, Club Pickup, and home delivery service in select markets. Sam's Club also provides travel, auto purchasing, pharmacy, optical, hearing aid centers, tire and battery centers, and a portfolio of business operations support services.

What you'll do:
You will apply your Java and distributed systems competencies to the improvement of existing products and the development of new software solutions at the enterprise-scale. A proven team player, you’ll have the opportunity to provide hands-on leadership while taking an active role in collaborative assessments and design discussions.

You will provide guidance to small groups of three to five engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by proving pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline.

You will lead the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including business, product, UX, and other engineering teams to build high quality solutions that are highly scalable and reliable.

You will provide support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues; researching and identifying needed solutions; determining implementation designs; providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems; identifying short-term and long-term solutions; and directing users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of associate's domain.

You will troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information; performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing documentation.

• Exceptional skills in programming using Java
• Expertise in Software Design and Architecture
• Knowledge of frameworks like Spring Boot, JUnit
• Deep understanding of Cloud Computing
• Experience working using Agile Methodologies
