Production Assistant - Stagehand

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the setup and breakdown of equipment and structures for live events and filming. This individual will work with the production team to ensure that all events run smoothly and efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Responsibilities

• Assist in the setup and arrangement of production equipment, staging elements, and props according to the technical specifications provided by the production team.
• Provide assistance during rehearsals and performances by making quick adjustments to the set, props, and equipment as required
• Work collaboratively with the stage crew, performers, and other production staff to maintain a smooth flow of the production
• Regularly inspect, clean, and maintain production equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity
• Report any malfunctions or damages to the production manager for timely repair or replacement
• Assist in loading and unloading production equipment, set pieces, and props before and after events or shoots
• This may involve heavy lifting and the use of specialized equipment or tools
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols during setup, rehearsals, performances, and teardown
• Help maintain a safe working environment for all production team members and performers
• Collaborate with the production team, performers, and other staff to execute tasks efficiently and maintain a harmonious working atmosphere
• Follow instructions and direction provided by the stage manager or production supervisor
• Be prepared to respond swiftly and calmly in case of unforeseen emergencies or unexpected changes during a live event or production
  Assist in keeping track of production inventory, such as props, costumes, and equipment. Help with organizing and storing items when not in use
• Support front-of-house operations as needed during events, including ticketing, ushering, or customer service, to ensure a positive experience for the audience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training or coursework in theater, film, or event production is a plus
• Previous experience as a production assistant, stagehand, or similar role is beneficial but not required
• Knowledge of basic stagecraft, lighting, sound systems, and theatrical rigging is advantageous
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and handle various tools and equipment safely
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with the production team and performers
• Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on production schedules
• Problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges and adapt to changing situations swiftly
• A strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and a proactive attitude towards work
