Summary
The Motor Vehicle Director is responsible for overall management of motor vehicle transactions in the Tax Office. Fundamentally, the position is responsible for ensuring all Tarrant County renewals and titles are processed accurately and on time. The job also includes overall responsibility for dealer and subcontractor work.
Examples of duties
- Supervises downtown and subcourthouse motor vehicle managers.
- Ensures safe handling and transfer of motor vehicle receipts and documents.
- Resolves complex motor vehicle problems.
- Establishes motor vehicle programs, processing, priorities, procedures, and necessary documentation.
- Coordinates with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) and State Comptroller.
- Generates and presents periodic reports.
- Approves motor vehicle orientation and training programs.
- Ensures short- and long-term motor vehicle priorities and goals are being met by the division.
- Coordinates property tax collections at subcourthouse locations.
- Serves in lieu of Tax Assessor-Collector in title hearings.
- Coordinates with Accounting, Property Tax and Quality Assurance as well as other County departments.
- Recommends training and discipline as appropriate.
- Participates in hiring and termination of new employees.
- Coordinates and monitors staffing assignments, workload, and resources between Motor Vehicle groups to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Ensures compliance with applicable motor vehicle law, code, and policy.
- Provides budget inputs and monitors expenditures.
- Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Tax Office as assigned or required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Six (6) years motor vehicle experience including five (5) years Motor Vehicle Manager experience.
- Knowledge of cash handling systems and database updates.
- Must obtain County Tax Office Professional (CTOP) Certification within two (2) years.
- Knowledge of Transportation Code.
