About the role

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Sr. Controls Tech - 2nd Shift at our Nacogdoches, TX facility! The core hours are Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times. The hourly rate for this position is $39.30, plus a $1.35 shift premium per hour.

What you’ll do:

The Senior Controls Technician will work with the Controls Engineers to execute and manage projects of small to medium scope throughout the facility. The technician will also provide support to the Control Techs and Production as required.    
    
In this function, you will:   
• Ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping & company policies and procedures.
• Support Engineering projects to install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot complex automated equipment
• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical/controls problems including non-routine issues
• Use Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) including basic and ladder logic to read/write basic wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to diagnosis problems
• The position will work independently to meet project requirements with limited supervision
• Help educate lower-level technicians through on the job training as needed
• Fabricate and Install control and power panels
• Reviews diagrams, drawings and specifications for design, construction and/or alteration of instrument and control systems
• Evaluates and recommends improvements for current equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair of low voltage electrical systems (600VAC and below)
• Oversee and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols to guarantee the safe deactivation and isolation of equipment, ensuring energy control procedures are correctly applied to prevent inadvertent machine startup or hazardous energy discharge during repair or maintenance, in line with OSHA regulations and organizational safety guidelines.
• Safely operates overhead cranes and hoisting equipment to move materials, components, and finished products within the manufacturing facility.
• Actively participates in problem-solving processes, contributing to efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement within the organization.
• Adhere to safety protocols, ensures efficient material handling, housekeeping practices (5S+), and company policies and procedures. "    

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree) from an accredited institution. 

• Two-Year Associate or Bachelor's degree in related field of study or 10 years of electrical and controls system fabrication, assembly, and installation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

• No relocation benefits are being offered for this position. Only candidates that reside within a 50-mile of the Nacogdoches, TX facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Technical Knowledge
Required:
• Advanced knowledge of PLC systems (PLC5, PLC 500, RSLogix 5000/Studio)
• Experience with VFDs and DC motor controllers
• Familiarity with NFPA 70 and electrical installation standards
• Strong understanding of electrical safety, including Arc Flash PPE and hazardous locations
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&ID diagrams
• Skilled in troubleshooting and repairing low to high voltage systems
• Proficient with diagnostic tools (voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, phase rotation meters, meggers, oscilloscopes, watt meters, loop calibrators, IR thermometers)

Preferred:
• SAP or similar maintenance/work management software experience preferred.
• Robotics education and/or experience preferred.
