About the role

Job Summary: The Shop Service Technician performs shop support activities, which involve start-up, preventive and corrective maintenance on Sullair air compressors. The selected candidate will possess the air compressor repair experience, knowledge and skills for effective utilization of related equipment and proven troubleshooting processes and procedures. Electrical and mechanical industrial experience preferred. Technical understanding of electrical and electronic systems, microprocessors, VSD, Industrial-Preferred.  We are located at 3603 Kermit Highway, Odessa, TX 79764. Hours are Mon-Fri 7am to 5pm.

Mid-level position – Generally has more than Three years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A Level III Technician has moderate knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Level III Technician performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting; often a team member on a large project.

 Essential Functions:

  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
  • Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
  • Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
  • Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
  • Mentors and helps train other technicians
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance 
  • Performs other duties as assigned       

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Shop Service Technicians should have minimum of 3 year of electrical/mechanical industrial experience – Preferred
  • Knowledge of customer equipment operations, able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must be able to correctly troubleshoot, repair all components and brands of air compressors including large electrical, centrifugal, oil free, reciprocal piston equipment
  • Must be able to properly use multimeters, amp meters, vibration and infrared meters, megger.
  • Must be able to successfully perform the above while meeting the Company and Customer’s safety requirements as per OSHA requirements.
  • Have oil field safety experience a plus
  • Read and comprehend P&I drawings, ID/GA drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, cleaning and setting controls.
  • Must be able to set up rigging equipment and safely remove and reinstall motors, compressors and associated components.
  • Must be able to safely use all hand tools and power tools such as drill motors, grinders, band saws, etc.
  • Help with manufacturing of skid packages for the oil field
  • Must have understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic principles and components-Preferred
  • Technical understanding of electrical and electronic systems, microprocessors, VSD, Industrial-Preferred
  • Control and Automation Management, Timers, Phase Monitors, Star and Triangle starting configuration, Soft Starters, Direct Starters, Variable Speed, PLC Management, Wye Delta.
  • Knowledge of different types of piping such as types of copper, black, aluminum and galvanized installing blue transair piping, fittings and anchors.
  • Air Treatment, must understand regenerative dryers and controls, refrigerated dryers a plus
  • Diesel compressor troubleshooting, maintenance and setup for rental fleet
  • EPA certifications with Freon experience a plus
