Program Highlights:
- Hands-on Research: Conduct experiments on reinforced concrete specimens, learn corrosion detection methods, and use cutting-edge technology like 3D profilometry.
- Engagement and Learning: Start with a 1-day camp with the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Corrosion ToolkitKit (cKit) and continue with practical, interactive demonstrations.
- Mentorship: Work closely with a PhD student advisor and receive personalized mentorship from USF faculty.
- Real-World Relevance: Understand how laboratory research applies to real-life infrastructure through advanced data analysis and forecasting tools.
- Cohort Collaboration: Partner with a peer to build teamwork and collaborative research skills.
- STEM Science Fair Participation: Showcase your research at the Hillsborough County 6-12 STEM Science Fair.
- Compensation: Earn $13/hr. with a commitment of at least 20 hours/week
- Program dates: Tentative schedule June 1st – July 30th, 2025
Minimum Education and Experience:
• Must be actively enrolled in a participating high school.
• Must meet the requirements of the internship program.
Eligibility Requirements:
- High school junior going into your senior year
- Must be a student in the Hillsborough County Public School system
