JOB TITLE: Online Programs Director

DEPARTMENT: School of Education and Extended Learning (SEEL)

SUPERVISOR: Dean, School of Education and Extended Learning


GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Dean, the Online Programs Director oversees the scheduling, delivery, staffing, and assessment of all TU online courses. In collaboration with the academic leadership of the schools, the Online Programs Director fosters a cooperative environment ensures that online offerings are delivered smoothly and efficiently while academic and quality standards are maintained. As a member of the SEEL Leadership team, the Online Programs Director contributes to strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts for the COEL and the SEEL. This position requires a dedicated and experienced individual with a vision for academic growth and the ability to navigate administrative and faculty responsibilities effectively.

Requirements

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


[25%] Administrative Oversight of Online Course Delivery.

  • Course Scheduling in alignment with established rotation.
  • Staffing courses with qualified instructors. (in collaboration with Faculty Services Manager)
  • Splitting High-enrollment courses as needed.
  • Low Enrollment recommendations.
  • Recommend adjustment of course delivery rotation as needed.

[25%] Quality Assurance for Online Course Delivery.

  • Instructor engagement monitoring, intervention as needed (in collaboration with Faculty Services Manager)
  • Manage instructor load per established policies (in collaboration with Faculty Services Manager)
  • Review course evaluations and assess instructors to ensure the quality of teaching and engagement. Provide feedback to the Dean as needed. 
  • Support the Dean/school with the review and adjudication of student issues, as needed.

[10%] Procurement/Training of New Online Faculty

  • Manage Instructor Recruitment Pool/Process
  • Facilitate Instructor New Hires (in collaboration with School Leadership)
  • Provide New Instructor Training (collaboration with The Center for Faculty Support)

[10%] Course Development Support 

  • Oversee Course Build/Update Prioritization (in collaboration with School Leadership)
  • Manage SME Recruitment Pool/Process 
  • Facilitate as-needed Subject Matter Expert New Hires (in collaboration with School Leadership)
  • Assist in the oversight of subject matter experts (SME) to ensure course quality, and for purposes of retention (in collaboration with the Director of Learning Design). 
  • Verify all course development milestones are met
  • Ensure completion of as-needed minor course-level edits or updates (i.e. “quick fixes”) in collaboration Academic Technologists.

[10%] Assessment, Accreditation, and Reporting

  • Collaborate with the office of Assessment and Accreditation to collect and report on required O/A data. 
  • Support Program Review process (in collaboration with School Leadership) 

[10%]  Program Advocacy

  • Serve as spokesperson and advocate for the programs, its offerings, and its distinctiveness (in collaboration with schools). 
  • Assist with marketing/messaging for the programs. 

[10%]  Contribute to the strategic evolution of the COEL

  • Actively participate in and meaningfully contribute to strategic discussions and on-going planning processes related to the COEL.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean. 


QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB

Education:

  • Master’s Degree required, terminal degree strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in academic administration, preferably related to online programs delivery. 

Other:

  • Proficiency with computer technologies, social media, content management and/or learning management systems, creating and interpreting spreadsheets/dbases, including data analysis and presentation.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds. 
  • Provide leadership in internal and external communications. 
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
