Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for our cloud databases team and who enjoys taking data driven decisions and building innovative solutions to support the business growth. You will be responsible for designing and building reliable, high-performance, low-latency solutions for Cosmos DB services at scale. You will work across the stack and collaborate with engineers on the team to convert vision into a high quality, shipped product.

Responsibilities

  • Lead designs and execution to build the Cosmos DB service for different hardware architectures and platforms. Create proposals for architecture improvements by testing design hypotheses and refining code plans.
  • Apply debugging and profiling tools, logs, telemetry, and other methods to verify assumptions through writing and developing code proactively before issues occur and reactively as issues occur in production. Conduct retrospective debugging of solutions to identify root causes of problems.
  • Leverage subject-matter expertise of cross-product features with appropriate stakeholders to drive the workgroup's project plans, release plans, and work items.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers to help them reach their utmost potential.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
    • OR equivalent experience.
