About the role

Applied Research Solutions is looking for a Senior Training Systems Engineer to support the Air Force Life Cycle Management (AFLCMC) programs at WPAFB, OH. The Senior Training Systems Engineer  will be supporting acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, and training systems across the weapon system lifecycle. This role interfaces with government, contractor, and external stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted program execution, compliance, and operational effectiveness. This position supports weapon systems, subsystems, support equipment, and training systems, with emphasis on Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E), systems engineering rigor, configuration management, lifecycle analysis, and program protection.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide systems engineering and technical support across acquisition, development, sustainment, modernization, and training systems for USAF programs
  • Support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) with OSS&E analysis, requirements development, and technical decision support
  • Review and analyze Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), RFVs, configuration baselines, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
  • Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), technical interchange meetings, design reviews, IPRs, and program reviews
  • Translate operational needs into system and subsystem requirements; support architecture development and technical trade studies
  • Support full system lifecycle activities including integration, reliability, maintainability, supportability, cost, schedule, and risk analyses
  • Support development and evaluation of IMPs, IMSs, SEDS, engineering cost estimates, and risk management in accordance with AFI 63-101
  • Support system and training device test planning, test readiness reviews, acceptance testing, and certification activities
  • Provide training systems engineering support including simulation systems, hardware/software integration, distributed mission operations, and information assurance accreditation
  • Develop, review, and manage technical documentation, program briefings, data items, and records in compliance with DoD and Air Force policies
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:

  • Must be US Citizen 
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance
  • Master’s degree in Engineering and 10 years of experience
  • Or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 12 years of experience
  • Or 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications
  • Experience supporting DoD or USAF acquisition or sustainment programs
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and lifecycle management
  • Experience with requirements development, technical reviews, and configuration management
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and government stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
